News Broadcast

    - After watching the news today, I have created a new proposition for CVTV.

Before coming to CV high school, there was no CVTV. Rather, the whole school would watch CNN10 in their homerooms, which broadcasted a short, 10-minute snippet of up-to-date news every day. This would sum up a large amount of information about current, ongoing things that I would have never looked into myself. Nowadays, I rarely get to hear the news and only learn about things out of coincidence from scrolling through the media, or through friends. Though I wouldn't say that I am oblivious as to what's going on in the world right now, I would say that I would know a lot more if there were some sort of real-world news system incorporated into CVTV.
Rather than only focusing on school-related events, I think that there should be some occasions in which CVTV incorporates an up-to-date short of current news. Students rarely take time in their day to watch the news, which can be a bad thing in some circumstances. In one of my classes, for example, the teacher once talked about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. I was surprised to see that some people had no clue of what he was talking about, showing how little exposed some people are to the media. Though it's not a good thing to be on the media every day, it still helps inform people about society and develops critical thinking. This doesn't need to be done all the time, but can rather be done through something like a "Beyond-The-Spot." An example would be David's Beyond The Spot, in which he talks about current news regarding sports. By doing this through something like a bi-weekly schedule, students may be more well-informed about what is going on in society.
