The Camera - Shutter Speed
- The Camera - "Shutter Speed" What is shutter speed? Shutter speed gives photos the ability to have changed brightness, as well as dramatic effects such as freezing action and blurred motion, How is it measured? Shutter speed is usually measured in fractions of a second (e.g. 1/4 of a second). <<fast - low>> How does it affect exposure? It can affect exposure depending on how long the shutter speed is. This is because the longer it is, the more that the camera sensor gathers light, resulting in brighter photos. On the other hand, if the shutter speed is short then light is exposed for only a fraction of a second, resulting in darker photos. What is the purpose of a slow shutter speed? If you are in a dark setting (e.g. nighttime), then a long shutter speed may be used so that the photo isn't too dark. Slow shutter speeds also allow for co ol, motion blur effects. -----------------------------
